Hi Folks, Diamond Dan here!
This month I thought I would give you some helpful hints
on how to get the most out of your money. Many teens these
days have part time jobs or get pocket money from their parents,
but this usually isn't a lot when you consider the cost of
a concert ticket or a pair of the latest trainers. It's important
for young people to learn good budgeting skills and understand
how to get the best out of their money. If you learn these
skills early, it will give you a good advantage when it comes
to managing your student finances or when you get your first
full-time job.
The most important thing to ask yourself when you have the
urge to dip into that purse or wallet is, 'Do I really need
this item?' If you don't need it then simply DON'T BUY IT!
If you buy something you don't need, it may prevent you from
buying something later on in the future which you really do
need. If you feel you do need the item, then ask yourself,
'Can I afford it?' You should never buy something that you
can't afford as it can lead to a cycle of living beyond your
means. If you can afford an item then it is still wise to
check if you are getting the best price. You would be surprised
how much prices can vary for the same item, such as a CD or
a computer game.
If you happen to have plenty of money to spend, it doesn't
necessarily mean these tips aren't relevant to you! Before
you buy something ask yourself, 'Will I really use this item?'
So many of us buy clothes or gadgets which are used a couple
of times and then forgotten about. If you think about how
much you have spent over the years on things you don't use
regularly it would give you a shock! You should still always
check if you can get the item cheaper elsewhere, even if you
have plenty of money. Why should you pay more for the same
item or service?
I hope you found these tips helpful!
