- The battle of the Boyne took place on 1st July, 1690,
but because of the changeover from the Julian to the Gregorian
calendar the day is now commemorated on the 12th of July.
- The River Boyne, located in Leinster, Ireland, is approximately
112km long and flows north east through County Meath. This
goes on towards the Irish Sea outside Drogheda.
- The Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre is located in the
recently restored 18th century Oldbridge House, which is
on the battlesite. Access to the Visitor Centre includes
access to the formal gardens.
- Although the Battle of the Boyne is most recalled from
the Williamite Wars it was actually the Batlle of Aughrim
on July 12, 1691, which finally sealed the fate of the Jacobite
cause in Ireland.
