Grand Master Condemns Sectarian Vandalism

23 March 2010

The Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, Robert Saulters, has condemned vandalism caused to cars parked outside the Orange Hall in Enniskillen.

The attack took place last week when people were attending an event in the Orange Hall on the Tempo Road. Twelve cars were damaged by someone using a sharp metal object.

"I was actually attending the function in the Orange Hall when the attacks took place. This was more than a one-off piece of vandalism," the Grand Master said.

"I believe it was sectarian and well organised. The people who damaged the cars knew who they belonged to.

"We were attending a function, along with local council officials, to mark the end of Educating Ourselves - a project where 200 people from Fermanagh studied the values, traditions and history of the Orange Order.

"These people were trying to learn about their culture while others were trying to intimidate them. I would like anyone with any information to go to the police and I would expect all right-thinking people to condemn what happened."
