Grand Lodge pays tribute to Millar Farr
Saturday, October 06, 2018

The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland has expressed regret at the passing of former Sovereign Grand Master of the Royal Black Institution, Millar Farr.

The 76-year-old was an active member of the Orange Order in Cookstown throughout his life.

Grand Master Edward Stevenson said: “I was very sad to learn of Millar’s passing, having known him personally for a very long time. Millar was an honourable and decent man of the utmost integrity, who was highly respected across the Loyal Order fraternity and beyond.

"While Millar was better known in his leadership role with the Royal Black, he was also a very proud Orangeman, through his membership of Boland LOL 375.

“Millar worked hard to develop and enhance the close relationship between our two organisations. Indeed, Grand Lodge was very proud to work in partnership with the Royal Black Institution to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation last year. Millar’s foresight and wisdom, along with others, was instrumental in the successful programme of events to mark such an evangelical milestone.

“On behalf of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, I would like to offer our deepest condolences to the Farr family, and the Imperial Grand Black Chapter, at this time.”
