Twelfth Venues
ROSSNOWLAGH - JULY 11
The annual Twelfth parade in Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal, will
be held on Saturday, July 11.
Fifty lodges from Donegal, Cavan, Leitrim and Monaghan , as
well as visiting Orangemen, will take part in the parade which
begins close to St. John's Parish Church at 1.15pm.
The parade then goes to the demonstration field, on the edge
of the shoreline - surely one of the most beautiful locations
for an Orange parade anywhere in the world.
Visiting Orange dignitaries from around the world will lead
the parade, set against the backdrop of the Donegal Hills
and the rolling breakers of the Atlantic.
A religious service will be held at 3pm and the guest speaker
will be the Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland,
Robert Saulters.
BANGOR - FLAGSHIP TWELFTH.
Sixty bands will take part in the parade which starts at the
Arras Playing Fields at mid-day and goes to the excellent
location of Valentine Playing Fields, using the entrance on
the Newtownards Road
The North Irish Dragoons, a living history group dressed in
authentic uniform of the period, will lead the parade along
with King William on horseback. There will also be a demonstration
of live musket firing in the Valentine Playing Fields after
the parade.
Street entertainers have also been engaged and dressed as
cartoon characters they will travel the parade route entertaining
the spectators. Traditional Ulster-Scots musicians will also
provide entertainment.
BANBRIDGE - FLAGSHIP TWELFTH
Eighty bands are expected to take part in the Twelfth in Banbridge.
The parade will start on the Newry Road at mid-day, go through
the town centre and turn left at the bottom of the hill towards
the leisure centre. The demonstration field is at Huntley
Road where the Rev. Martin Smyth, a past Grand Master will
be the guest speaker.
There will also be entertainment provided by a pipe band and
highland dancers and there will be other attractions in the
field, such as bouncy castles and face painting for the young
spectators.
LARNE - FLAGSHIP TWELFTH
The parade will be a colourful pageant which will leave Bridge
Street at 11am and makes its way through the town and the
Main Street to Sandy Bay Playing Fields where a religious
service will be held. Rev. Ron Johnston, Moderator of the
Free Presbyterian Church, will conduct the service.
In keeping with the festival atmosphere, musical entertainment
will be provided in the field with the Ulster Scots Experience
Orchestra.
The return parade will begin at 3.30pm.
ARMAGH
A memorial service will be held at 8.45am outside Armagh Orange
Hall in honour of seven brethren who lost their lives as a
result of terrorism. A permanent memorial to those who died
was erected outside the hall in 2000.
The Armagh Twelfth has an early start with lodges moving off
on the Portadown Road at 9am. A religious service, conducted
by Pastor Gordon Graham, will begin at 1.30pm.
BELFAST
The parade to mark the 319th anniversary of the Battle of
the Boyne will leave Belfast Orange Hall, at Carisle Circus,
at 10.00am.
A wreath laying ceremony will take place at the City Hall
and the parade will then proceed via Donegal Square West,
Bedford Street, Dublin Road, Shaftsbury Square, Bradbury Place,
Lisburn Road, Balmoral Avenue and Malone Road to Barnetts
Demense.
BALLYMENA
The parade assembles at Waveney Road at mid-day and goes through
the town to Ballymarlow.
BALLYMONEY
The Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, Robert
Saulters, is the guest speaker at the parade in Ballymoney.
Three bands from Scotland - Kilmarnock, Stirling and Edinburgh
- will lead the parade of 40 lodges. They come from five districts
- Ballymoney, Bushmills, Ballycastle, Cloughmills and Rasharkin.
The parade begins at the Showgrounds on the North Road at
1pm and walks through the town, returning to the Showgrounds
for the platform proceedings at 2pm.
GLENARM
The parade assembles at Shane Road at mid-day and walks through
the picturesque village to the demonstration field at Straidkilly
Road.
PORTGLENONE
Seventeen lodges will take part in the Triangle Parade in
Portglenone.
Orangemen assemble at 1pm at Hillinstown Road and walk through
the village, crossing the River Bann into County Londonderry.
It is almost certainly the only Orange parade that walks in
two counties on the same day.
LISBURN
Seven districts will take part - Lisburn, Glenavey, Magheragall,
Hillsborough, Derriaghy, Ballinderry and Aghalee.
The districts fall into line at Wallace Park around 11am and
parade a three mile route through the city centre to Knockmore
Road and the playing fields at Limetree Avenue.
KILREA
The parade will gather at the Orange field on the Garvagh
Road at 10.30am and move off around 11.30am for a parade through
the town.
The demonstration field is at the Rectory Field on the Moneygran
Road and the platform proceedings will start there at 2pm.
LONDONDERRY
Eight districts will take part in this year's parade through
the historic city - three from the City of Londonderry, Coleraine,
Macosquin, Limavady, Cumber Claudy and Raphoe in Co. Donegal.
The parade will form up on Craigavon Bridge and at 11.30am
walk into the city side of the river, using Carlisle Road,
Ferryquay Street, the Diamond, Bishop street, London Street,
Hawkin street, Kennedy Place, Kennedy Street and Wapping Lane.
The parade will then return across the bridge again and go
to the demonstration field at Wilton Park, via Spencer Road,
Clooney Terrace, Glendermott Road, Bonds Street, May Street
and Limavady Road.
COAGH
The parade assembles in the Rousky Road at 12.30pm and walks
through the town to the demonstration field at Drumconuis
Road, where the platform proceedings will take place.
DROMORE (TYRONE)
Six districts - Sixmilecross, Strabane, Fintona, Omagh, Killen
and Newtownstewart - will assemble on the Dromore - Omagh
Road around 12.30pm., before walking through the town to the
demonstration field on the Trillick Road.
FIVEMILETOWN
The parade will assemble at St. John's Parish Church car park
on the Fintona Road at 12.30pm and walk through the village
to the demonstration field on the Clabby Road.
Visitors to the area are asked to watch out for traffic diversions
as the main A4 road to Enniskillen will be closed for much
of the day. It is expected that the crowd will grow in the
afternoon as people make their way from the Lisbellaw demonstration,
just 12 miles away.
LISBELLAW
Lodges will assemble at Faughard, just off the main Belfast
to Enniskillen Road. They will move off at 12.30pm to parade
through the village and back to the assembly field for a religious
service at 2pm.
KILLYLEAGH
Assembly: The parade assembles at Coiley Hill on the Crossgar
Road at 12.15pm and then goes through the town before returning
to the assembly field for a religious service, conducted by
Rev. Mervyn Gibson, from Belfast.
ANNALONG
Assembly: 11.30am on the main Kilkeel - Newastle Road and
parade through Annalong to the demonstration field at Hillmount
Road.
